I've had this idea of a bonsai cake, inspired by @jamie_north’s beautiful artwork (swipe ?) since forever and been waiting so long for somebody let me make it. Finally the awesome owners of Chapel Cafe were up for it and saved me from my own burning desire Thank you so much ?? The rock was sculptured using rice bubbles and covered in modelling chocolate. Cake was layers of Japanese cotton cheese cake, with whipped dark chocolate ganache, infused with coffee beans. A match made in heaven. For the wedding show I made 4 cakes for 4 seasons, and the croquembouche towers for spring again. So it’s “spring, summer, autumn, winter and spring”, like the movie, if you know it. Murphy’s law, on the day as we were packing up, my husband who is always ever so careful and thoughtful, managed to break the autumn cake which was a big 3 tiers with a big chocolate sculpture on top (the main culprit), never happened before. I came home (after running last minute errands) to find him sitting like a sad puppy that was made to sit in the dog house all day under the rain I can’t imagine how aweful he must have felt and I turned out to be the one who comforted him and told him it was gonna be alright and I didn’t like that cake hell of a lot anyway among all the show cake it was the least favorite of mine so it didn’t bother me really. For the show I only had to make the cakes, he did every else. Made me an utterly cool wooden sign, packed up, decorated the booth, packed down, cleaned up, bla bla bla. Also helped me all day at the show, talked to customers, presented the samples because I’m indeed rather socially awkward he sold me better than I could ever sell myself. He’s rather alright isn’t he? I have been rather quiet on social media since there’s been so much going on. One thing in particular was @thebayofplentyweddingshow last Sunday.
