Did I say I officially became a crazy plant lady This conservatory is the gateway drug to my houseplant addiction back in late 2018 when we came to see the open house it was already decided that we had to buy it. I mean, look at that monstera (it’s currently bearing fruits too, not sure how to harvest yet since they are right up the ceiling). Initially I claimed it my cake room but it was too warm for curd and buttercream, too perfect for plants on the other hand. Since then I’ve been slowly filling up the conservatory, because inside the house has lots of plant space as well, and the garden (outdoor gardening is still a thing, yes, ) . All in all still very much an on going project. Bought a bathtub to put under the trimmed back monstera, a clawfoot bath would be amazing but happy with what we had found. Seeing awesome plant sales in Auckland makes me wish we live there sometime but nah, I can have all the plants shipped to me but this conservatory is not going anywhere. Heya, can't believe half of this strange year has passed already ? How have you guys been doing? I've been enjoying this baby honeymoon a little too much, picked up bread making as a new hobby like everybody else, officially became a crazy plant lady but most importantly, loving our little sweetheart – baby Aiko – to the moon and back I did think about coming back to the cake world earlier, but my baby is only going to be a baby for so long, I want to enjoy it for as long as I can. Still can't believe how lucky I am to be trusted with couples who just let me go free range with whatever idea I come up with. When talking to me about her wedding cake, my good friend Veronica-Jean Photography had only one requirement, which was to use the sugar flowers on parents' wedding cake, made decades ago by her late mother, a cake maker herself. They have travelled all the way from South Africa and around the whole country before finally being put to reuse again. Hard to think of a more special and meaningful way to have her mother there with her on that day ️ So I came up with this vision of 2 cubes of concrete blocks off centre on top of each other, with perfectly smooth and perfectly rough sides, a bonsai rock and kintsugi gold cracks where moss and flowers grow out of thanks to Aoteroa's beautiful spring time at the moment. A balance of perfect imperfection where life grows and glows.The final result made our hearts sing, including my husband's who was under pressure of packing and travelling this off centre piece to Auckland on a hot day. First originated in 1999 from a caravan, 20 years later, only the sky is the limit for @enlightendesignsnz . I had the privilege to make their special birthday anniversary cake a couple of weeks ago and was over the moon the whole time making it Delivering this 60+ cm tall handsome cake over the kaimai to Hamilton was a job not for the faint-hearted but lucky me, my @peep5how is such a pro now ?All the decorations are made out of dark and white chocolate.
