American pancakes inspired by Japanese okonomiyaki – not my idea though, I got this from Munchies series on Vice magazine last Sunday. Side note: don’t watch it when struggling with hangover like we did, just don’t, haha.
Their version were beef and cheese, and after the beef week we decided to stay away from b-word for a while 😛 So… prawns!
My most favorite ingredients to go with prawn are coconut, and mango so I use them both to make 2 kinds of sauce: mango and passion fruit with cream cheese; and coconut milk, wasabi and dill. Coconut sauce should have been thicker though, them both tasted great separated or combined!
Now here’s the layer listing of this sky scrapper: pancake, prawn and pork patty, sauces, Vietnamese roquette, pancake, sauces, seared prawns, sprouts, chopped cashew nuts, pancake, sauces, blended pistachios and a seared scallop 😀
The dish has a very feminine feeling, that’s why I chose to make it for last night’s girls dinner and I think it worked, we had a big pile of fun :)) too much I didn’t get to touch the clip :)) the layering was actually main Bear’s breakfast this morning, he got shocked by the size, lol
Conclusion? Food and fun taste better when shared :’>
